Winners of agri-contest in Ivory Coast

3 July 2019
Four winners of the agricultural contest in Ivory Coast supported by the Louis Dreyfus Foundation and IECD received prize money for a total of 24 million CFA Francs.

Following the launch of the initiative run in partnership with l’Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement (IECD), 17 young entrepreneurs were assisted in developing their agricultural projects. They participated in the training program of the Transform Incubator on agricultural processing, as well as benefited from the personalized marketing and business support.

At the next project step, the participants defended their business projects in front of a professional jury composed of Carrefour Côte d'Ivoire, the National Chamber of Agriculture of Côte d'Ivoire, ADVANS, the Louis Dreyfus Company and the Louis Dreyfus Foundation.

Four winners were selected, including AMIN INDUS specializing in honey sticks production,  KAPECE producing Tiassalé pepper, BRING producing attieke (a side dish made from cassava), and a food processing company KAO. These producers received from four to nine million CFA Francs of prize money.

All of them will benefit from a six month coaching program aimed at equipping the participants with a set of management skills to further develop and scale their businesses. It is estimated that these projects will create at least 20 jobs and will benefit other 200 farmers and beekeepers.
